IRAP: (Interleukin-1 receptor antagonist protein
therapy)
In this procedure, Ridgeview Veterinary Practice completes
a process to derive anti-inflammatory proteins (interleukin-1)
from a sample of the horse's blood, and then returns it to
the horse. This direct application of concentrated proteins
into the affected joint/area works to decrease inflammation
associated with the development of osteoarthritis. Using
the horse's own blood decreases the risk of adverse reactions.

Vet-Stem:
In this procedure, a fat sample harvested from the horse
is processed by the Vet-Stem laboratory to extract stem cells.
These cells are then injected back into the horse at the
treatment site by a Ridgeview Veterinary Practice vet. Vet-Stem
stem cells can be used to treat bone fractures as well as
injuries to tendons and ligaments. There is also promising
research being done to demonstrate the effectiveness of this
procedure on osteoarthritis and cartilage damage.
